I wrote a separate post about why I’m doing this challenge, the specific French skills I want to work on, and how this fits into my current language goals. If you’re curious, you can read it here:
Textbook: Grammaire en dialogue A1
I studied for 1 hour and 8 minutes, broken into four short sessions.
If yesterday marked the official pause on new chapters, then today was the first real day of reviewing and consolidating everything I’ve learned so far in this textbook.
I took a low-key approach to start this review phase. First, I encoded and reviewed verb conjugations using Quizlet. Then I worked through the two audio tracks from Chapter 1. This time, I focused on dictation, replaying each track multiple times until I could clearly hear and write down the words being said.
The Chapter 1 audios were fairly manageable. I only made a few mistakes, mostly related to ending letters (such as adding -e for feminine forms or -s for plurals) and punctuation. That said, I know the later chapters will be more challenging, so I’m mentally preparing myself for some frustration along the way.
And speaking of frustration — I already got a taste of it during my verb conjugation practice on Quizlet. The nous, vous, and ils/elles forms are especially difficult, particularly for irregular verbs. They still don’t come naturally to me and require a lot of conscious effort.
Because of that, I’m planning to make verb conjugation practice a daily habit, at least for the next seven days. Repetition feels like the only way these patterns will truly stick.
