If you haven’t yet, you can read this post where I opened up about what I feel about taking the CAPM exam – my fears, doubts, and what this step means for me personally and career-wise.
Now, let’s talk about how I actually got started with the exam prep.
To ease into it without getting overwhelmed, I made my first move on April 24, 2025, by purchasing two courses from Joseph Phillips:
📝 1. CAPM Practice Exams – 2023 CAPM Exam Objectives
To get a sense of where I stood knowledge-wise, especially one year after completing my post-grad in project management, I took one of the four mock tests on April 24–25.

I scored 63%. Not a passing score, but honestly, I expected it.
📘2. CAPM Exam Prep Seminar (Updated for the 2023 Exam)

I originally gave myself 2 months to complete this course… but I surprised myself by finishing it in just 16 days (April 28 to May 13)!
The course has 44 sections in total. However, only Sections 1 to 22 are required for the certificate of completion. These were updated for the 2023 CAPM exam. The remaining sections are from the older version, which may still be helpful if you’re completely new to project management. Since I was using the course as a refresher and to fulfill the PMI education requirement, I focused only on the updated portion.
⏱ Time Spent on Exam Prep So Far:
- CAPM Exam Prep Seminar: 24 hours, 16 minutes
- CAPM Mock Test: 1 hour, 17 minutes
➡️ Total Time Invested: 25 hours, 33 minutes
📝 CAPM Exam Application
On May 13, I officially registered and booked my CAPM exam.
