With 10 days left before my CELPIP exam, my study routine started to shift, and not always in the way I hoped.
The first week of preparation felt structured and productive. But by this point, I noticed my energy dipping, my focus slipping, and my study habits becoming less consistent.
D-16: Trying to Stay on Track
I completed a Writing Task 2, which felt like a small win.
For speaking, I turned to YouTube and watched a few strategy videos. I wasn’t actively practicing yet. I’m just trying to understand the test format and how to answer.
D-15: A Small Breakthrough
I took both a listening and a reading practice test.
- Listening: 33 / 37 (Level 8)
- Reading: 29 / 37 (Level 8)
After reviewing my mistakes, I had a small but important realization. In the listening section with video, it’s not just about what people say. It’s also about who is saying it. And that means paying attention to details such as what each person is wearing (shirt, sweater, or long sleeve).
D-14: When Focus Just Isn’t There
I planned to study writing using the official CELPIP videos. I opened the video, ready to focus. But after about 6 minutes… I just couldn’t continue. My mind wasn’t cooperating. I don’t know if it was fatigue, distraction, or just one of those days.
D-13: Showing Up (Even Passively)
I tried again the next day, this time with speaking videos. I wasn’t practicing out loud yet. Just watching, listening, and trying to absorb.
It wasn’t the most effective study method, but it was something. And at this point, “something” was better than nothing.
D-12: Skipped
No studying at all.
D-11: Picking Things Back Up
I got back into it by continuing the speaking videos. Then I pushed myself to do a mock test covering:
- Listening
- Reading
- Writing
It wasn’t perfect, but it felt good to engage with the test again instead of avoiding it.
D-10: Another Missed Day
I skipped studying again.
By now, the inconsistency was becoming a pattern.
